The Surgery Program at  Monash Health provides services in the areas of:

Audiology

Audiologists at Monash Health provide primary hearing health care, specialising in the prevention of hearing loss and in the identification, assessment, diagnosis, management, and treatment of hearing disorders.

Colorectal Surgery

Elective Surgery is performed at Dandenong, Casey, Cranbourne and occasionally at Clayton. The colorectal surgical service provide management for a number of different conditions

Dental Surgery

The Specialist Dental Unit provides a comprehensive multidisciplinary dental service to a large number of specialised medical services.

Ear, Nose and Throat/Head & Surgery

The department specialises treatment for patients from early infancy and covers the whole range of diseases of the ear, nose and throat.

General Surgery

The discipline of General Surgery at Monash Health encompasses the sub specialties of Upper GI/HPB, Colorectal Surgery, Endocrine Surgery, Breast Surgery and General Surgery which incorporates the Acute General Surgery Unit (ASU).

Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Unit at Monash Health provides a wide range of adult and paediatric services across various sites.

Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery

The plastic and reconstructive surgical unit is headed by Associate Professor Michael Leung and is based at Dandenong Hospital where the majority of the major and acute plastic surgical activity occurs.

Research for ENT, Head & Neck Surgery

The Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Department has a commitment to high level evidenced-based clinical practice, continuing professional development and research.

Upper Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary

The Upper GI/HPB & General Surgery Unit provides the full range of support for all General Surgery subspecialties for Acute Care situations.

Urology

The Urology Surgical Unit is split between the campuses at Casey Hospital in Berwick and Moorabbin Hospital.

Vascular and Transplantation Surgery

Vascular Surgery is based Dandenong Hospital where the endovascular suite is shared with diagnostic imaging to allow a comprehensive modern vascular surgical service to evolve within Monash Health.

These services are provided at the Monash Medical Centre Clayton (MMC-C), Dandenong Hospital, Monash Medical Centre Moorabbin (MMC-M), Cranbourne Integrated Care Centre and Casey Hospital.

The units at the Surgery Program aim to provide safe, effective care consistent with college and national practice guidelines.  This involves close communication with the local general practitioners and referring specialists.

If you are waiting for surgery within Monash Health, we may ask that you attend our pre-admission clinics where you will be assessed by a surgical team member and/or an anesthetist prior to your elective stay at the hospital. You will be provided with patient information, education regarding your procedure and access to other health professionals to provide a smooth transition when you leave the hospital after your surgical care.

Please ensure you bring all medication and x-rays to your pre admission clinics.
