The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Unit at Monash Health provides a wide range of adult and paediatric services across various sites, including Monash Medical Centre, Clayton, Monash Medical Centre, Moorabbin and Dandenong Hospital.  The unit manages the whole spectrum of maxillofacial trauma and work in close association with our colleagues from the Dental, Ear, Nose & Throat, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology and Plastics surgery units to provide comprehensive multidisciplinary care.

The Unit is involved in management of cysts, tumours, craniofacial anomalies of the face/jaw and offer reconstructive and dental implant surgery in conjunction with the Head and Neck multidisciplinary team.

The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery unit is also an integral member of the Cleft and Facial Anomalies team which is in the unique position of being able to provide continuation of care from birth to adulthood.

Surgical services include;

  • Cleft lip and palate surgery
  • Cysts and tumours of the mouth and jaw
  • Facial fracture management
  • Head and neck oncological surgery
  • Odontogenic infections of the Head & Neck
  • Oral Surgery
  • Orbital fracture reconstruction surgery
  • Orthognathic (jaw) surgery
  • Reconstructive jaw surgery
  • Reconstructive dental implant surgery
