Wedding bells at Monash Medical Centre

A hospital may not be an ideal wedding venue for most, but for newlyweds Christy and Brendan, their weekend vows at Monash Medical Centre were perfect.

Originally planning to get married in the city last Saturday, the couple’s plans were thrown into disarray when Christy was rushed to hospital due to pregnancy complications.

Ebony, a Clinical Midwife Specialist in our Maternal Fetal Medicine team caught wind of this and immediately sprung into wedding planning mode, helping the couple coordinate the chapel, celebrant, photographer, flowers, catering and of course, cake.

“This is our first Maternal Fetal Medicine wedding, it’s really exciting and just such a privilege,” she said.

Under the watchful eye of her doctors, Christy walked down the aisle and tied the knot with Brendan in an intimate ceremony, complete with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony and a sand ceremony.

The couple are extremely thankful to Ebony, the Maternal Fetal Medicine team and the wider Monash Women’s team for going above and beyond to make their day so special.

“We couldn’t possibly express how much we appreciate what they’ve done and the gratitude we both feel for their help,” said Brendan.

A big congratulations to Christy and Brendan from Monash Health – we wish them both all the very best.
