Monash Mental Health Services is the largest provider of mental health services in Victoria. We cover four different locations, and within those sites, we offer multiple mental health services for people of all ages. Part of my role is ensuring that we’re working together as a team, supporting the whole team with enough resources, and ensuring that patients are satisfied with the care they receive. I also manage the administrative staff to support them in doing their job with the right equipment.

I am involved in both the clinical and operational sides, working alongside a multidisciplinary team. We have a large team of over 50 nurses, consultants, and doctors providing mental health support to anyone coming into our unit. Everyone is dedicated to their work and the care they provide to patients.

Providing mental health care is extremely important. When people are admitted to the hospital, it is often because they cannot be managed in the community. On our unit, we strive to provide effective care, ensuring that patients do not stay in the hospital longer than necessary. We aim to help them return to their families, jobs, and communities as soon as they are well enough.

This job is challenging but also very rewarding. To succeed, one needs a passion for mental health and a desire to support people on their journey to recovery. Monash Health offers great opportunities for any nurse wanting to work in this field. It is a supportive organisation, encouraging growth, innovation, and personal development.
