The Monash Health hospital based Speech Pathology team is part of the Speech Pathology and Music Therapy Department who are committed to providing an integrated, patient focussed service across the five hospitals within Monash Health.

Speech Pathologists are specialists in the assessment and management of communication and swallowing difficulties. They provide specialist services for people with complex communication or swallowing needs resulting from a variety of health or developmental conditions. Examples of these conditions include stroke, progressive neurological disease, head injury, head and neck cancer, dementia, respiratory conditions, developmental disorders, craniofacial anomalies.

Services Offered

Communication and swallowing/ feeding assessment and management for people referred to one of the following services:

  • Adult acute and subacute hospital wards
  • Cleft and Facial Anomalies clinic (Monash Medical Centre,Clayton
  • Outpatient head and neck surgery clinic (Moorabbin)
