Oncology

The Monash Health Department of Oncology provides more than 1.5 million residents of southern Melbourne with access to world leading cancer treatment over four locations within the Monash Health service.

REMASTER Trial – High Blood Pressure

The Monash Health Department of Endocrinology are currently running a trial to learn about the optimal treatment for high blood pressure with low renin. One in four people with high blood pressure may be affected by this condition.

If you have high blood pressure (on up to two blood pressure-lowering medications) and are interested in participating in this trial, see your family doctor for a blood test to measure your hormone renin. If your renin is <10 mU/L, your doctor can fax a referral to the Endocrine Hypertension Clinic to (03) 9594 3558 or email to endocrinehypertensionclinic@monashhealth.org. To learn more about this study, please visit the project page.

Research at Monash Children’s Hospital

At Monash Children’s Hospital, our dedicated researchers span the entire fields of medical, nursing, allied health, laboratory and public health disciplines. Working together with our Monash Partners collaborators, our research teams aim to improve the health of our most vulnerable babies and children, as well as the entire population.

Monash Children’s Trial Centre performs clinical trials to help provide safety and effectiveness information regarding medicines and vaccines, to allow them to be used safely in children as quickly as possible.

Consumer Involvement In Research

Researchers are encouraged to partner with consumers in all stages of research.

Information, guidance, training and access to consumer and community partners may be located through these excellent resources:

During 2021, Monash Partners will be facilitating lunch time seminars for researchers on consumer and community involvement in research. Monash Health will be participating in these seminars.

Consumer Involvement During the Research Development Stages

Researchers may consider engaging with consumers when developing research proposals involving Monash Health consumers, their carers or families because a consumer/s may be able to offer some valuable insights on the proposed research and this will assist in strengthening the research. Monash Health has a Consumer Participation Register and researchers can contact the Consumer Partnerships Manager, Ms Amy Lewis, via email amy.lewis@monashhealth.org or phone 0481 909 859. Amy will be able to advise if there are consumers who may be interested in offering advice on the proposed research.

Accreditation of Clinical Trials Service at Monash Health

Monash Health is currently working towards implementing all actions from the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework.Â
