Honorary and Student Researchers

Learn about the Honorary Researcher Application Process.

Monash Health is engaged in health-related research across all stages of life and maintains strong collaborations with various organisations. The Monash Health Honorary Research Procedure and Application Form are designed to:

  • Facilitate honorary researcher appointments when an external researcher supports a research project led by a Monash Health Principal Investigator, with the research being of potential benefit to Monash Health.
  • Mitigate Monash Health’s risk exposure.

Please note: Students without professional certification are not eligible to apply for honorary appointments.

Before submitting an application, please refer to the Honorary Research Procedure and follow the sequence of events illustrated below:

Adding a Student Researcher from Monash University or a Nursing Student from Deakin University

This applies to undergraduate, honours, and postgraduate students.

  1. Email Notification: The Principal Investigator or their delegated nominee (not the student researcher) sends an email to research@monashhealth.org.
  2. Email Details: In the email, please include the following:
    • Study Title/Quality Assurance Title
    • Monash Health Local Reference (e.g., RES-24-0000-XXXA)
    • Name of the student being added to the study/QA
    • Attach a copy of the student’s GCP Certificate
    • Attach a signed Confidentiality Undertaking for External Researchers
  3. Commencement: The student may commence their work under the supervision of Monash Health investigators once the Research Support Services team has saved the information to our records and provided an email acknowledgment.
