Monash Health board member Associate Professor Misty Jenkins has been inducted into the Victorian Honour Roll of Women.
Associate Professor Jenkins, an advocate for gender equity, Aboriginal Health and education, was one of 32 names added to the Victorian Government’s honour roll for 2020.
In response to the news, Associate Professor Jenkins tweeted:
“Thank you [Dr Marguerite Evans-Galea AM] for nominating me! I am humbled to have been inducted into the Victorian Honour Roll of Women today. I stand on the shoulders of the many inspiring mentors who have taught me how you can lead with authenticity and courage.”
As a Monash Health board member since November 2016, Associate Professor Jenkins serves on the board’s Quality Committee and Aboriginal Health Strategic Partnership Committee.
Monash Health Board Chair, Dipak Sanghvi, congratulated Associate Professor Jenkins on the achievement.
“Everyone at Monash Health is proud to see Misty recognised for her exceptional career. She is not only a key contributor to our board, but Associate Professor Jenkins continues important work and research into brain cancer and immunotherapy,” said Mr Sanghvi.
Associate Professor Jenkins is a laboratory head at Walter and Eliza Hall Institute for Medical Research, and a proud Gunditjmara woman, who was the first Indigenous Australian to attend the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge as a postdoctoral research fellow.
The Victorian Honour Roll of Women is an initiative of Women Victoria, recognising women who demonstrate remarkable leadership and excellence in their field, with more than 600 having been recognised since 2001.
