Give the warmest start to the smallest hearts

Your donation today will help vulnerable newborns receive the warmth and care they need during some of the most critical moments of their lives

All funds received through this appeal will go towards two Infant Warmers, helping keep sick babies at a stable, safe temperature while making it easier to provide critical care.

Liz Brown – Nurse Manager, Monash Children’s Ward at Casey Hospital

“To some, an Infant Warmer may look like a piece of equipment. To us, it is so much more.

It helps protect fragile babies when they are at their most vulnerable. It supports doctors and nurses to provide critical care safely and efficiently. And it gives parents comfort and a sense of connection during moments of fear and desperate worry for their child.”

One moment, parents are dreaming about taking their newborn home and starting life together as a family. The next moment, they are beside a hospital bed, looking on helplessly as doctors and nurses surround their tiny baby.

Many of the babies we care for are only days or weeks old.

They arrive unexpectedly unwell and in need of urgent tests, treatment and close observation. Some are being investigated for serious infections, while others require specialised care for a range of medical conditions. Whatever the reason, these babies are at their most vulnerable.

At the very moment these babies need critical medical care, they also need warmth.

Unlike older children, newborn babies cannot regulate their own body temperature. With very little body fat and an immature temperature regulation system, they can lose body heat in just minutes. During tests, procedures and treatment, becoming cold can place additional stress on an already fragile baby.

This is where an Infant Warmer can make an extraordinary difference.

While keeping a baby at a safe, stable temperature, the Infant Warmer allows doctors and nurses immediate access to provide essential care. Its clear sides mean babies can be closely monitored throughout treatment and allow parents to remain connected to their child during an incredibly distressing time.

We need your help today

The Monash Children’s Ward at Casey Hospital does not currently have its own dedicated Infant Warmer.

This festive season, we’re seeking your support to help fund two Infant Warmers, one for the Monash Children’s Hospital ward at Casey and one for the Emergency Department at Casey Hospital.

Our goal is to raise $74,000 to make this possible.

At $37,000 each, these specialised infant warmers provide vulnerable babies with the warmth, stability and support they need during some of the most critical moments of their lives.

Your impact

Your gift will help ensure that sick and vulnerable babies receive the warmth, comfort and care they need during their first precious days of life.

Please donate today and help give the warmest start to our smallest hearts, bringing them one step closer to going home to their families this festive season.

Each gift, large or small, will make a real difference.
