Professor Stephen Nicholls recognised as one of the world’s most influential researchers

Professor Stephen Nicholls, Program Director of the Victorian Heart Hospital, MonashHeart and Intensive Care, has been named one of the world’s most influential scientists in Clarivate’s 2023 list of Highly Cited Researchers.

Clarivate’s annual list of Highly Cited Researchers recognises influential researchers in the sciences and social sciences from around the world, who have demonstrated significant and broad influence in their fields of research.

“This is a great recognition of the hard work of many collaborators across the world and the patients who participate in and benefit from the results of our research.

“It reflects the work we want to continue to build at the Victorian Heart Hospital and the Victorian Heart Institute,” Professor Nicholls says.

The groundbreaking trials led by Prof Nicholls and his team highlight the power of the collaborative ecosystem that is VHH and Monash University’s VHI research program, integrating clinical cardiology services, research, and education.

Strategically co-located under one roof, this multi-disciplinary approach enables the delivery of exceptional patient care from the lab bench to bedside and back.

The researchers included on the list have authored multiple highly cited papers which are ranked in the world’s top one per cent by citations for their fields and publication year in the Web of Science over the past decade.

Web of Science is Clarivate’s paid-access platform that provides access to publication and citation data from academic journals, conference proceedings, and other documents in various academic disciplines.

This year Clarivate announced 7,125 Highly Cited Researcher designations from across 67 countries and regions.

Clarivate is a British-American publicly traded analytics company that operates a collection of subscription-based services in areas including scientific and academic research, biopharma intelligence and medtech intelligence.
