Pharmacy and Pharmacology at Monash University ranked as the world’s best

Monash Health congratulates Monash University for being recognised as number one in the 2022 QS World University Rankings by Subject for Pharmacy and Pharmacology.

It is the first time that an Australian university has achieved this rank in this discipline, with Monash University also receiving top tier rankings in Education (13th), Nursing (14th), and Anatomy and Physiology (29th).

Associate Professor Sue Kirsa, Director of Pharmacy at Monash Health and Adjunct Associate Professor at Monash University’s Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences said the ranking was a special achievement.

“This is the school that many of our pharmacists have graduated from, and Monash Health has a close working relationship with Monash University,” said Associate Professor Kirsa.

“Pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences students at Monash University have played a key role in Monash Health’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout, supporting our frontline pharmacy team with vaccine preparation, which enabled clinics like the Sandown Racecourse Vaccination Centre to deliver the most vaccine doses of any location in Victoria.”

Monash University’s Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences recently made headlines for developing Australia’s first mRNA vaccine for COVID-19 and it is the oldest Pharmacy school in Australia.

The QS World University Rankings assess the performance of more than 1,300 universities worldwide. The Rankings are compiled from an analysis of more than 13.9 million unique papers and global surveys by employers and academics.
