We’re delighted to welcome Michael Gorton AM as the new Chair of the Monash Health Board, alongside newly appointed Board members Felicity Topp and Hamish Park.

Michael brings over 30 years of legal and governance expertise, with a distinguished career advising health organisations and leading boards across the sector. His leadership will be instrumental in guiding Monash Health’s strategic direction and fostering innovation in care delivery.

Joining him are Felicity Topp, a transformative health leader with decades of experience in public health and system reform, and Hamish Park, a seasoned executive adviser and governance expert.

Together, their combined expertise and passion for community health will strengthen our commitment to delivering exceptional care and shaping a bold, sustainable future for our patients and staff.

We would also like to thank three of our outgoing board members, including the now former Board Chair Dipak Sanghvi, for their years of service and leadership at Monash Health.

Dipak joined Monash Health in June 2016, serving as a board member for 2 years before taking on the role of Board Chair for the next 7 years.

Board member Emeritus Professor Hatem Salem AM, a clinical haematologist and medical researcher, was appointed in May 2017, while Board member Ross McClymont, a litigation and insolvency lawyer,  was appointed in July 2022.

Dipak and his board saw Monash Health through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and the landmark opening of the Victorian Heart Hospital in 2023.

More recently, Dipak, Hatem, Ross and the Board supported Monash Health in delivering its highest-ever volume of planned surgeries, alongside millions of patient episodes and expanded community-based services — setting new standards in access, efficiency, and public health impact.

Once again, the Monash Health community thanks Dipak, Hatem, and Ross for their years of generous service and wise counsel.
