Monash Health appoints new ICU Service Director

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Associate Professor Tim Leong as Service Director, Monash Health Intensive Care Service.

Tim brings a wealth of experience in Intensive Care to the newly created role. He spent 20 years as an Intensive Care Specialist at Alfred Health, where he was the deputy director of Intensive Care for 15 years and Head of ICU Quality with a particular focus on infection prevention.

Tim has broad experience in high level cardiac intensive care including mechanical circulatory support and critical care echocardiography, which will lead to important contributions to the new Intensive Care Unit at the Victorian Heart Hospital and across our Intensive Care Service. He is also interested in clinical care process improvement and EMR development.

Tim has also worked with regional health services, introducing the first formal ICU telehealth service to regional Victoria, in a partnership between Alfred Health ICU and Better Care Victoria.

“I am excited to join Monash Health. I see tremendous potential to grow and improve the intensive care services for the population of southeastern Melbourne.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has been challenging for all Victorian health services. I am impressed by how Monash Health has risen to the challenge posed by COVID-19. I am delighted to have joined this dynamic team.”

We welcome Tim to Monash Health.
