Meet Dr Lift and Nurse Strong: the newest additions to Clayton’s skyline
Clayton’s skyline has 2 new towering personalities. Dr Lift and Nurse Strong, are the newly named cranes.
‘We were delighted to involve Monash Children’s Hospital kids and their families in this competition,’ said Emma West, Project Director at Monash Health. ‘This project is a huge part of how Monash Health will care for our community into the future, delivering more operating theatres, expanded maternity beds and birth suites as well as a new intensive care unit, critical healthcare infrastructure for our local community.’
Name the Crane invited children attending Monash Children’s Hospital to submit a suggested name for the 2 tower cranes that will play a critical role in constructing the new tower. Of the many entries received, 2 stood out: Dr Lift and Nurse Strong.
‘These names really did fit the bill,’ said Stuart Cavill, Divisional Director Hospitals and Clinics at Monash Health. ‘They are a tribute to the doctors and nurses who deliver care for our community every day and will be part of the landscape while the cranes help to build our new 7-storey tower.’
5-year-old Billy won with the name Dr Lift, while 2-year-old Alexander (helped by his mum) won with the name Nurse Strong. Over the next year, Dr Lift and Nurse Strong will be familiar landmarks on the Clayton skyline.
The competition provided a meaningful way for some of our youngest patients to become part of the project’s story, creating a lasting connection between the hospital and the community.
Congratulations to Billy and Alexander on their winning entries. Next time you spot the tower cranes above the construction site, be sure to give a wave to Dr Lift and Nurse Strong!
