Maternity service delivering new generation

Introducing baby Lilo – a precious daughter for new parents, Karley and James.

Lilo was one of 209 babies born at Monash Health hospitals in the first week of January.

The newborns are among the first members of Generation Beta, a cohort of individuals born between 2025 and 2039.

Lilo was delivered at Dandenong Hospital after her parents relocated across the country for her birth.

‘We are from Exmouth in Western Australia. It is really remote, and we are not able to have babies there. We were seeing a fly-in, fly-out midwife for quite a bit. And then we had to schedule to have the baby born at a hospital,’ said mum Karley.

‘My mum and I were born in Dandenong Hospital. It is a really good hospital, I wanted to go back there,’ Karley told the Dandenong Star Journal.

Between January 1 and 7, Monash Health’s maternity teams delivered:

  • 84 babies at Monash Medical Centre
  • 51 babies at Casey Hospital
  • 47 babies at Dandenong Hospital
  • 27 babies at Sandringham Hospital

We are delighted to welcome these little ones into our community and look forward to supporting their health and well-being, as we have for the generations before them.
