Major works are underway in construction of the Victorian Heart Hospital

Monash Health will deliver care in Australia’s first dedicated cardiac hospital, which will feature up to 206 beds.

Professor Stephen Nicholls, Director of MonashHeart at Monash Health, said the facility represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reshape our approach to clinical care, research and teaching for heart disease.

“This is an incredible development for our community as we work to understand Australia’s biggest killer, so we can develop better approaches to prevention and treatment,” Professor Nicholls said.

The Victorian Heart Hospital will be able to deliver 2,150 cardiac surgeries, up to 13,500 cardiac laboratory procedures and 108,000 consultations each year.

It will also play an important role in training our future heart specialists and nursing and allied health professionals. The hospital will educate more than 300 undergraduate students, 260 postgraduate students and 20 PhD students each year.

We’re proud to partner with the Victorian Health and Human Services Building Authority and Monash University to deliver the $564 million project.
