Congratulations to Monash Health’s Tania Green who has been named Nurse of the Year at the 2020 HESTA Nursing and Midwifery awards!
HESTA’s Nurse of The Year award recognises an exceptional nurse who delivers outstanding patient care and has delivered positive outcomes and performed above the expectations of their role.
A deserving winner, Tania is the clinic nurse coordinator for Monash Health’s Cleft and Craniofacial Unit and has dedicated her career to improving awareness of the treatment and care required for cleft affected babies.
“I am so pleased that this kind recognition will really champion my beautiful cleft children and families, as well as the great work of the cleft and plastics service. Hopefully it will also encourage all nurses to keep working hard to support our patients as it’s what we nurses do best!” said Tania.
Tania played a significant role in in establishing antenatal consultations for parents expecting a baby with a cleft lip and/or palate to help reduce their anxiety, and has worked with families to reduce the number of hospital visits needed, saving them time and easing financial pressures for those who need to travel from afar.
As with most events in 2020, HESTA’s Nursing and Midwifery Awards looked a little different this year, with winners being announced via video broadcast due to COVID-19 restrictions.
However, Tania’s proud colleagues didn’t hesitate to bring the celebration to her desk this morning.“It sure has been an exciting day, starting at Dandenong Hospital this morning to share with some of the team, and arriving at Monash Children’s to an inundation of support, clapping, balloons and flowers!”
