At Monash Health, your PGY1 year is the beginning of a supported, rewarding and diverse medical career. Monash Health offers a dynamic and well-supported PGY1 program, with exposure to diverse specialties, patient populations and healthcare settings. Throughout your PGY1 training, you will be supported by dedicated Supervisors, Registrars, and the Monash Doctors Education team. You will benefit from a comprehensive education program that includes weekly tutorials, simulation-based learning, procedural skills training and multidisciplinary teaching opportunities.
Rotations
At Monash Health, you’ll have the option to experience rotations in a wide range of areas such as Diagnostic Imaging, Palliative Care, Dermatology and more.
Plus your medicine and emergency medicine rotations don’t have to be limited to Melbourne — Monash Health provides opportunities in Mildura and Warragul.
Monash Health’s PGY1 rotations are structured to provide direct clinical experience across the four clinical exposure areas:
- Undifferentiated illness (Clinical Experience Area A)
- Chronic illness (Clinical Experience Area B)
- Acute and critical illness (Clinical Experience Area C)
- Peri-procedural care (Clinical Experience Area D)

Occupational Therapist – Grade 3
The Grade 3 Clinical Occupational Therapist will be responsible for providing leadership and supervision the Occupational Therapists in the Children’s Team.
Occupational Therapist – Grade 2
The Aged and Community Care program aims to keep clients independent within their community by proactively promoting health, independence, and self-management. We offer integrated multidisciplinary care to a growing and diverse population in the community setting, with individual and group-based services provided.
Occupational Therapist – Grade 1
The Secure Extended Care Unit provides medium to long-term inpatient treatment and rehabilitation for people who have unremitting and severe symptoms of mental illness or disorder with an associated significant disturbance in behaviour that preclude their living in a less restricted environment.
Occupational Therapist Grade 2 GEM@Home
The GEM@Home Program is a new program for Monash Health and involves delivering care to clients in the home as part of a team of nursing, medical, pharmacy and allied health clinicians.
