Monash Medical Centre in Clayton has now opened a secondary public car park area, to provide a temporary boost to parking capacity during construction work.
As part of the broader project to improve total parking capacity at the site, some spaces in our existing multi-storey car park have been closed to allow construction teams perform crucial works.
To offset some of these lost spaces, an overflow car park has now opened at the site. The new car park will be used once the existing car park reaches capacity, with signage and traffic management systems in place to ensure drivers can easily find the new area.
The new public car parking area is a similar distance from the main hospital entry.
The larger project is expected to be complete by mid-2023. It will deliver 450 additional parking spaces with improved traffic flow, safety, lift systems, and payment options.
Lighting and access will be upgraded, more lifts will be installed, and the new structure will have tap-and-go paywave technology. Improved signage will help drivers navigate the structure and find their car more easily, and turning ramps will be improved to allow for wider turns.
Monash Health continues to work with our project partners to keep disruption to a minimum.
