Program pathways

We offer 3 pathways to suit different levels of experience, learning objectives and time commitments. Each program is tailored to your objectives and the selected pathway. You will receive a certificate of participation and, where appropriate, a capability or learning summary.

Executive Observership

Designed for senior medical leaders, executives and system-level decision makers.

Duration: 3 to 5 days

Clinical Observership

Designed for international specialists and senior trainees seeking subspecialty exposure.

Duration: 1 to 4 weeks

Advanced International Clinical Fellowship

Designed for senior clinicians, fellows and sponsored trainees seeking deeper capability development.

Duration: 8 to 52 weeks

Eligibility and suitability

You may be suitable if you are:

  • an international clinician, medical leader or executive
  • a sponsored fellow or representative of a healthcare organisation
  • or is seeking structured exposure to a specific specialty or health system capability.


Applications are assessed based on:

  • your professional background and experience
  • your learning objectives
  • availability of an appropriate host unit and supervisor
  • and compliance, governance and visa requirements

What is included?

What are the fees?

  • Executive Observership: AUD $2,000 to $2,500
  • Clinical Observership: AUD $1,500 (week 1), plus AUD $500 per additional week
  • Advanced Fellowship: from AUD $3,000 per month
  • Application fee: AUD $500 (non-refundable)

What documents do I need for the application?

  • Passport and visa documentation
  • Curriculum vitae and qualifications
  • Registration evidence (if applicable)
  • Insurance or indemnity documentation (if required)
  • Immunisation records and police checks
  • Statement of purpose or learning objectives

Can I treat patients or do I need registration?

No. Observerships are strictly non-clinical.
 
Registration is not usually required for observerships. It may be required for clinical fellowship activities.

Can Monash Health help with visas or accommodation?

We do not provide immigration advice. Participants are responsible for their visa arrangements.

Participants are responsible for travel, accommodation and personal expenses.

Can the program be customised?

Yes. Programs may be tailored depending on your objectives, availability and approval.
