MonashHeart Cardiac Care Unit – Clayton
Cardiac Care is a 21 bed unit linked to MonashHeart which specialises in interventional cardiology. Our services provide the management of a range of cardiac conditions including acute coronary syndrome conditions, myocardial infarction (AMI), heart failure, shock, care post intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) insertion and temporary and permanent pace maker insertion, dysrhythmias, electrophysiology studies, radiofrequency ablation, valvuloplasty, percutaneous transluminal septal myocardial ablation (PTSMA), and pulmonary vein isolation, and new advanced technologies with core valve insertion, mitral clipping, and renal denervation.
Care of the respiratory failure patients – Type 1 & Type 2 management with non-invasive ventilation. It is a very supportive learning environment, with up to date evidence based clinical practice for best patient outcomes
32 South is an acute, dynamic and exciting Cardiothoracic unit that specialises in caring for patients post cardiac surgery including coronary artery bypass graft surgery and valve replacement / repair. In addition to cardiac surgery, the management of patients post thoracic surgery including lobectomy, wedge resection and pneumectomy are included in our range of services. Advanced nursing procedures such as invasive haemodynamic monitoring, non-invasive ventilation and temporary cardiac pacing are integrated into our daily model of care. Patients are transferred from intensive care into our high dependency unit day one post cardiac surgery, creating an acute environment for health professionals to consolidate advanced skills.
