Public Library Resources for Patients
If you’re a patient, you can sign up for a free online library membership. Then, you can use your own phone, tablet, or laptop to enjoy things like:
- eBooks (books you read online)
- Audiobooks (books you listen to)
- Online magazines and newspapers
- TV shows and movies
To get started, find out which library is linked to the hospital or community centre you’re in using the table below. Then follow the steps to join that library online.

- Register online for Library membership
- Access and browse their eLibrary collections that hold digital books, magazines, movies and newspapers.
- Download any apps (see below) you need to read or listen to content, or use the web browser on your device.
- Use your library card number to log in to library resources and apps.

- Once you have joined, you will be given a WEB ID number, make sure you record your WEB ID number.

What if I don’t live near the hospital I’m visiting?
That’s okay! You don’t have to live in the area to join the local public library online.
What do I need?
You’ll need a phone or tablet, an email address, and internet access. Monash Health has free Wi-Fi – just connect to MHWifi from your device.
