A/Prof Andrew Strickland
MBBS FRACP
A/Prof Andrew Strickland is a senior medical oncologist at Monash Health specialising in gastrointestinal (GI) cancers and neuroendocrine tumours. He graduated from the University of Melbourne and completed postgraduate fellowship training at Guy’s Hospital in London. He holds an adjunct associate professorial appointment at Monash University.
He was instrumental in establishing the gastrointestinal cancer clinics at Monash and in collaboration with his surgical and radiation oncology colleagues, began the GI cancer multidisciplinary team meetings there. More recently, he organised a multidisciplinary team meeting for neuroendocrine tumours, underlining his commitment to subspecialty service development and collaborative care models. He has been the principal investigator on numerous clinical trials in GI cancer at Monash and has enrolled significant numbers of patients in these trials.
His research focus continues with a strong track record of enrolling patients into studies exploring novel therapeutic options. He has published more than 70 peer-reviewed articles, has acted as a reviewer for international medical journals, and maintains active membership in the Australian Gastrointestinal Trials Group (AGITG), the Medical Oncology Group of Australia (MOGA), the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
