Already secured a clinical placement at Monash Health via your University/RTO?

Fantastic! We look forward to welcoming you to Monash Health where you will continue to develop and grow not only your clinical skills, but you will also experience being part of a larger professional team who pride themselves with the work they do.

Student Coordinators

Our student coordinators across the 11 Allied Health disciplines are experienced Educators, who along with clinicians, Managers and University/RTO field officers, plan, organise and execute clinical placements across the year.

The Student coordinator will organise your pre-placement requirements, on-boarding information, and connection with your clinical educator. They are a source of support and touch point during your placement for any concerns or challenges you may have and have strong links and collaboration with your Monash Health clinical educator and University/RTO.

Clinical Educators

Monash Health Clinical educators are experienced clinicians within your discipline, who are allocated to support and guide your day to day activity, growth and learning on placement. They will provide regular review and assessments on your progress in line with your discipline requirements, and have strong connections to the student coordinator.

Expectations of students on clinical placement

Whilst each clinical placement may differ in regard to Site or program, there are general, overall expectations of students all time. These include:

  • Wearing Uniform or smart causal work attire with a closed in toe/heel shoe.
  • Wearing University/RTO student name badge
  • Exhibiting professional behaviours and communication with all employees and patients/clients
  • Not using personal mobile phones (excluding breaks or in an emergency)
  • Respecting the privacy of staff and patients/clients
  • Upholding the ICARE values of Monash Health

How can Monash Health support you during placement?

Monash Health strives to provide a safe and inclusive environment for our staff and students. We therefore have a few questions we ask Allied Health students to consider when undertaking a placement:

  1. Do you have any additional support needs you would like us to know about, to support you whilst on placement? These could include any cultural, religious, disability, medical, spiritual, learning or wellbeing related requirements.
If so, we encourage you to reach out to your discipline student coordinator (see links on this page) for a discussion about how we can support you, and/or what resources or strategies you may like to bring onto placement.
  2. Do you identify as First Nations Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander?
If so, please reach out to the discipline specific student coordinator (see links on this page) if you would like to discuss services we have available at Monash Health to support you through your time on placement. Or, if you would like to discuss or share any practices you might like to bring to your placement.
We have an Aboriginal Health and Engagement Team who can provide any cultural support you may need.
