A/Prof Zee Wan Wong

A/Prof Zee Wan Wong is the Director of Oncology Unit at Monash Health and the Joint Clinical Director of the Southern Melbourne Integrated Cancer Service. She currently serves on the board of Cancer Trials Australia and was the immediate past Head of Oncology at Peninsula Health for six years where she not only grew the clinical service and research portfolio but advocated for implementation of organization-wide improvement initiatives. Zee Wan previously held memberships on the Monash Partners Comprehensive Cancer Consortium Executive and Governance Committees, the Medical and Scientific Committee of Cancer Council Victoria and the Victorian Tumour Summits Steering Committee.
Zee Wan obtained her post-graduate Membership with the Royal College of Physicians in the UK in Internal Medicine before completing her Medical Oncology Fellowship at the Duke University in North Carolina and Siteman Cancer Center, Washington University. Upon her return, she led the breast cancer service at the National Cancer Centre in Singapore. She has since been a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh from 2009. Zee Wan moved to Australia in 2012 when she was appointed the founding Clinical Director of Oncology at Goulburn Valley Health in regional Victoria and held the role of Clinical Director of the West Hume Victorian Integrated Cancer Services. She was conferred the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Medical Oncology.
Besides being a member of the Australasian Gastro-Intestinal Trials Group Lower GI Working Party, Zee Wan is a site principal and co-investigator of multiple sponsored and investigator-initiated trials to date. She has presented at both national and international oncology conferences, authored peer- reviewed publications, book chapters and is a reviewer for several oncology journals. She has been successful in multiple grant applications over the years both for clinical research and service improvement initiatives. During the pandemic, she was privileged to co-chair the Victorian Cancer COVID-19 Network (VCCN) Taskforce as well as the Telehealth Expert Working Group. She held active membership with the Cancer Expert Reference Group at the Victorian Department of Health and led the Telehealth Expert Working Group to conduct and publish one of the largest telehealth surveys in cancer patients. Whilst in lockdowns, Zee Wan became a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
More recently, Zee Wan is part of the Victorian Cancer Service Capability Framework Expert Working Group and the Clinical Network Executive Committee of Cancer Council Victoria. She became an Associate Fellow with Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators in 2023.
