Specialist clinics (outpatients)
Our specialist clinics care for people with specific health conditions and needs. We have more than 60 clinics for adults and children, with teams who are experts in diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions.
Specialist clinics help people manage health conditions through regular appointments, treatment and follow-up care.
Specialist clinics can help with:
- appointments with doctors, nurses and allied health professionals to assess, diagnose and treat health conditions
- ongoing care and follow-up for long-term or complex health conditions, working together with your GP, physiotherapist and other healthcare providers
- care before and after a hospital stay
- pregnancy and maternity care
- tests such as blood tests, scans and medical imaging
When you attend a specialist clinic, you are not admitted to the hospital as an inpatient, which is why they are sometimes referred to as ‘outpatient clinics’.
You can be referred to a specialist clinic by a GP, specialist, other community healthcare provider, emergency department clinician, hospital doctor, or another member of your healthcare team.
