Mycobacterial Infections

Monash Infectious Diseases provide specialist care for many patients with tuberculosis, and nontuberculous mycobacterial infections, including infections due to Mycobacterium avium complex, Mycobacterium leprae and Mycobacterium ulcerans. A full range of outpatient and inpatient specialist services are available.

Patients need to obtain a referral from a medical practitioner.
Please inform us if one of our extensive range of interpreters is required.
No cost to clients eligible for Medicare.
No out-of-pocket expenses for patients with active tuberculosis.

Private Consultations
Outpatient appointments with our Infectious Diseases Physicians are available. Consultations are bulk-billed.

Inpatient service
We manage patients with mycobacterial infections including tuberculosis requiring inpatient admission at Monash Medical Centre Clayton, and also provide an inpatient consultation service at Dandenong Hospital, Casey Hospital, Monash Medical Centre Clayton, Moorabbin and Kingston Centre. A full range of specialist services are available. No out-of-pocket expenses for patients with active tuberculosis.

Monash Infectious Diseases provides a specialist consultation service, and our physicians also admit patients under their care to Jessie McPherson Private Hospital. Patients are generally charged Gap Cover fees billed directly via their Private Insurance company with no out-of-pocket costs for inpatient consultations.
