Visiting ICU

We know that having a loved one in intensive care can be a challenging experience.

Next of kin and family are welcome to visit, and our teams are here to offer help and support during this time. Please see the Monash Health general visiting guidelines for visiting hours and more information.

Patient care at Monash Health is always our priority. Families and caregivers know the person being cared for best, and we encourage family and caregiver involvement in care planning.

Families and patients may also see opportunities for us to improve our Unit or the care we provide. In the first instance, please discuss any concerns with the team caring for the patient.

You can also share your observations and suggestions in a brief online survey.

Wisam Al-Bassam, Consultant

In my role, I know I can make a real difference to patient care. I enjoy supporting and helping trainees to be the best version of themselves – both in their medical training and as human beings.

Hannah Thompson, Speech Pathologist

It is inspiring working with such a supportive, multidisciplinary team in Intensive Care. I know I’m making a meaningful difference for my patients, and I’m learning from others every day.

Rachel Manderson, Registrar

I enjoy working in such a large, friendly team here in ICU. Everyone is very happy to support each other and it’s incredibly rewarding helping our patients.

Arshdeep Singh, Critical Care Nurse

The most satisfying part of my job is seeing patients getting better, getting back on with their lives, and doing what they love again. When they go home from ICU, it’s wonderful.
