Counselling provides professional assistance and guidance to assist clients in resolving personal or psychological issues, support making changes in life and fostering wellbeing. Counsellors provide help with issues such as anxiety, depression and stress.
The Community Health Counselling Team provides goal-oriented, brief interventions to support adults in promoting self-management and wellbeing.
Eligibility Criteria:
This is a short-term service for people with a disability, chronic disease or long-term impairment living in the City of Greater Dandenong, City of Casey and Cardinia Shire.
This service is not:
- for people under the age of 18 years
- for those under 15 years old, please refer to Child and Family
- for people:
- requiring urgent or immediate counselling (call Psychiatric Triage 1300 369 012)
- with current suicidal thoughts (call Psychiatric Triage 1300 369 012)
- experiencing paranoia or hallucinations (call Psychiatric Triage 1300 369 012)
- for people who are eligible for counselling through an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) or Chronic Disease Management Plans
- for women who are experiencing ante-natal or post-natal depression or anxiety please refer to Paediatric Counselling
- for drug and alcohol related counselling (Call SECADA 1800 142 536)
- for family violence-related counselling (call SECASA 9928 8741)
- for family or couples counselling about relationships, grief and bereavement
