Monitoring immune responses in tuberculosis and other mycobacterial infections

This study focuses on the immunopathogenesis of tuberculosis. We will be characterising and comparing immune responses of patients with active and latent tuberculosis and nontuberculous mycobacterial infections.  We will examine the effect of treatment and vitamin D replacement on immune responses.

Inclusion Criteria

  • M. tuberculosis active disease
  • M. tuberculosis latent infection
  • Non-tuberculous infection (eg M. avium complex, M. ulcerans, M. leprae)

Exclusion Criteria

  • HIV infection
  • Mental illness which may prevent provision of informed consent
