Dr Emma Leitinger
Dr Emma Leitinger is a clinical and laboratory haematologist, and medical lead of the Anticoagulation Stewardship service at Monash Health. She graduated from Melbourne University in 2011, and completed her haematology training at Austin Health, and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre/Royal Melbourne Hospital. She was admitted as a fellow to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and Royal College of Pathologists (RCPA) in 2021, and completed a 2 year research fellowship in thrombosis and haemostasis at Monash Health in 2023.
Her areas of interest include thrombotic disorders, laboratory and obstetric haematology. She is a currently undertaking a PhD around anticoagulants and their monitoring in clinical practice, supported by the CSL Behring Professor Heimburger Award, the Thrombosis and Haemostasis society of Australia and New Zealand (THANZ) research grant, Monash University, Monash Haematology research grants. She was awarded an early career researcher award for her abstract on a novel electronic tool to improve anticoagulant prescribing presented at the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis in Bangkok, 2024. She is also actively involved in education through Monash University and the RCPA.
