Dr Chathuri Abeyakoon
Dr Chathuri Abeyakoon is a dual-trained Clinical and Laboratory Haematologist with subspecialty expertise in lymphoid malignancies and novel therapeutics. She graduated with Honours from the University of New South Wales and holds fellowships from both the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA).
Dr Abeyakoon completed a two-year Clinical and Research Fellowship at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, Canada, where she served as the Chief Fellow of the lymphoma, myeloma, and autologous transplantation program. During this time, she gained extensive experience in the management of lymphoma and plasma cell disorders, including the use of cellular therapies such as autologous stem cell transplantation and CAR T-cell therapy, as well as targeted agents and clinical trials.
Currently, Dr Abeyakoon plays an active role in the lymphoma service and clinical trials unit. She is also undertaking a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) at Monash University. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and recognised internationally, including receiving an Abstract Achievement Award from the American Society of Hematology.
