The Monash IBD Unit are part of numerous global trails of new therapies for ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.

We participate in several national multicentre trials looking at the management of Crohn’s strictures (bowel narrowings), the optimal management of IBD in pregnancy (PICCOLO trials), and also run world fist early-stage translational trials of human amnion epithelial cell-based therapies for Crohn’s perianal fistulas.

Our specialists are also highly active in national studies on the quality of care in IBD as well as mental health in IBD.
