Murrumbek Casey Early Parenting Centre welcomes Health Minister
Today Monash Health welcomed the Minister for Health Infrastructure, the Hon. Mary-Anne Thomas MP and her parliamentary colleagues, Michael Galea MP, Member for South-Eastern Metropolitan, Pauline Richards MP, Member for Cranbourne, Jordan Crugnale MP, Member for Bass and Lee Tarlamis MP, Member for South-Eastern Metropolitan, to celebrate the new Murrumbek Casey Early Parenting Centre.
The Murrumbek Casey Early Parenting Centre is a brand new, purpose-built facility for families with children aged three years and younger and will open its doors to families in the community on 29 January.
The service is nurse-led and will support families with sleep, settling, feeding, strengthening parent-child relationships, as well as their overall wellbeing.
Local Area Governments (LGA’s) in the catchment are Casey, Cardinia, Bass Coast, Yarra Ranges, Baw Baw, South Gippsland, East Gippsland, Latrobe and Wellington.
From early establishment of the centre, there has been significant engagement with the community and local area to inform the model of care and reflect the culturally and linguistically diverse population in the catchment.
The new centre has been carefully designed to create an environment where families can feel safe, comfortable and at home.
The centre’s Aboriginal name ‘Murrumbek’, means ‘belong’ in the Bunurong language, the Traditional Owners of the land where this centre is located.
Dani Smith, General Manager of Monash Health’s Children’s Program and the Monash Children’s Hospital said “the team at Monash Health are excited to welcome families to the new Murrumbek Casey Early Parenting Centre and supporting them in their parenting journeys.”
“Families can self-refer to the centre or be referred by their GP or Maternal and Child Health nurse.”
