Monash Health Haematologists, Associate Professor Zoe McQuilten and Dr Gareth Gregory have been awarded fellowships with the Victorian Cancer Agency (VCA).
The fellows will undertake translational cancer research and the opportunity to work in partnership with the United States National Cancer Institute.
The VCA works to enhance Victoria’s cancer research efforts and fellowships are designed to support doctors in their research.
We are especially pleased to announce these fellowships on World Cancer Day, the leading international awareness day for cancer education and research. The theme of this year’s World Cancer Day is “I am and I will”, which seeks to empower individual’s response to cancer and the impact they can have.
“Thank you to the Victorian Cancer Agency for this competitive fellowship which further validates the collaborative work led by the Haematology Research Unit at Monash Health and Monash University in order to improve outcomes for patients with aggressive lymphomas and other blood cancers”, Dr Gregory said.
“My VCA Clinical Research Fellowship provides me with the opportunity to continue my research program in supportive care in blood cancers – including clinical trials on prevention of infection and how best to deliver transfusion support”, A/Prof McQuilten said.
