Stroke is a leading cause of death in Australia. By knowing the signs of stroke and acting fast you could save a life.
For National Stroke Week (August 5-11), the team at Monash Health has produced a video for social media to raise community awareness of the F.A.S.T. test.
The F.A.S.T. test is an easy way to remember the common signs of stroke.
F.A.S.T. stands for Face, Arms, Speech, and Time.
- Face – check if their face has drooped
- Arms – can they lift both arms?
- Speech – is their speech slurred or confused?
- Time – call 000 (triple zero) for an ambulance immediately
The video, filmed at Monash Medical Centre, features Monash Health’s Deputy Head of Stroke, Associate Professor Shaloo Singhal, and NeuroInterventional Radiologist, Associate Professor Ronil V. Chandra.
