Kanooka Community Childcare Centre

High-quality childcare and early childhood education.

Kanooka is a not-for-profit community childcare centre with integrated kinder located at Monash Health in Clayton.

With priority access for Monash Health employees, Kanooka provides care for children from 6 months to 6 years old in a small, nurturing, family-oriented environment.

There are four rooms dedicated to the following age groups:

  • Babies from 6 months old
  • Toddlers
  • 3-year-old kinder
  • 4-year-old kinder

Kanooka’s kindergarten program is registered with and funded by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.

Kanooka provides an inclusive and empowering learning environment that includes kindness and social conscience for all age groups.

Their play-based curriculum embodies these beliefs as it responds to and builds on the children’s ideas and interests. In conjunction with this, the teaching program includes maths, science, preliteracy skills, writing, creative art, sport and dance.

The children enjoy excursions in the local community, such as to the library, train station, post office, shops and more.

In the Earth Kinder program, the children experience nature and the outdoors through tree climbing and the study of plants and insects.

Kanooka acknowledges and respects families as the first and foremost educators of their children. The curriculum is planned in collaboration with families, which enables a rich understanding of each family’s goals and beliefs.

You can read more information about the curriculum on the Kanooka Child Care Centre website.

Eligible employees can salary package their childcare fees through Smart salary packaging.
