Graduate Midwifery and Double Degree Programs

As a recognised leader in complex maternity care, Monash Health Women’s is proud to offer Midwifery and Double Degree Nursing/Midwifery Graduates a range of comprehensive and supportive Graduate Program options to help launch their careers. With multiple intakes throughout the year, our programs provide flexibility and tailored support, ensuring graduates receive the right opportunities at the right time to grow their skills and confidence in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Program structure

All Midwifery and Double Degree Graduates are provided:

  • A twelve-month structured program, consisting of four 3-month rotations
  • Working part-time (64 hours/fortnight) on a rotating roster
  • Extensive paid orientation via a combination of online and in-person training prior to commencing in the clinical area
  • Maternity-specific learning activities to assist in a seamless transition to work
  • Tailored Midwifery Graduate Study days and learning pathways delivered throughout the program
  • The opportunity to apply for available positions within Monash Health upon successful completion of the program

Intake dates:

  • Monday 2 February 2026
  • Monday 4 May 2026
  • Monday 3 August 2026

Sites and rotations

Midwifery and Double Degree Graduates are allocated to one dedicated site-based Midwifery team for the duration of their program to ensure support and continuity. Graduates are able to nominate their preferred sites and nursing specialty in these streams. Site options are:

  • Monash Medical Centre Clayton/Jessie McPherson Private Hospital (tertiary maternity service)
  • Dandenong Hospital (primary and secondary maternity service)
  • Casey Hospital (primary and secondary maternity service)
  • Sandringham Hospital (primary maternity service)

Graduates in the Midwifery streams complete the following four (4) three-month rotations within their program:

  • Two (2) birth suite rotations
  • Two (2) post/antenatal rotations

Double Degree Graduates complete four (4) three-month rotations within their program:

  • Two (2) birth suite rotations
  • One (1) post/antenatal rotation
  • One (1) nursing rotation within a wide range of acute clinical areas including Emergency, Newborn, Surgical or Cardiac

Please note, while we endeavour to place Double Degree nursing rotations at the allocated Midwifery team site, this cannot always be guaranteed.
