The Monash Health Stroke Team have collaborated with Monash Simulation to develop the Code Stroke Team Response Course in order to continue delivering optimal care to patients presenting with strokes at Monash Health.
Following an exhaustive review of the delivery of stroke care to patients including observation and translational simulation across the Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging, Interventional Neuroradiology and the Stroke Ward involving the multidisciplinary Stroke Team, the course was designed to assist the Stroke Team members navigate the complex environments they encounter and unique needs of stroke patients to assist the Stroke Team in providing expert timely care.
The multidisciplinary Stroke Team consisting of medical staff and Stroke Clinical Nurse Consultants joined forces at the Monash Simulation Centre at the Monash Health Moorabbin campus led by the Monash Simulation team and stroke neurologist Dr Jason Vuong to undertake this specific course involving workshops and high fidelity simulations with both simulated patients and manikin based scenarios.
The development of this unique course following a period of observation and translational simulation provided by Monash Simulation further underlies the opportunities that subspecialty units across Monash Health can utilise in relation to a developing collaborative opportunities for education.
Bespoke simulation based multidisciplinary educational courses are among a suite of educational opportunities that Monash Simulation can deliver. We pride ourselves at Monash Simulation in meeting learners’ needs and working with stakeholders in developing experiences to enhance learning outcomes.
