Healthy Sports Clubs Connection Event Highlights

On 27 June, state sporting associations, local leagues and associations, community health services and councils came together for our 2024 Healthy Sports Clubs Connection Event.

Twenty-eight organisations attended the session, including associations and leagues representing 11 sporting codes and four councils from the local government areas where the Healthy Sports Clubs initiative is available.

Some State Sporting Associations in attendance included AFL Victoria, Golf Australia, Volleyball Victoria, Bowls Victoria and Tennis Victora.

Attendees heard from us and our co-presenters, Cardinia Shire Council and Merri Health, about the support available to community sports clubs through Healthy Sports Clubs and discussed opportunities for collaborative efforts to improve health and wellbeing in local clubs.

Some of the ideas discussed included:

  • Joint workshops, forums and presentations on health and wellbeing
  • Healthy policy development
  • Grant projects to support clubs to make health and wellbeing changes
  • Research projects, consultations and data collection.

Keep an eye out for exciting projects and collaborations arising from this session.
