Update on recent changes to our pathology system

Summary

-Monash Health Pathology has moved to PathNet, a new shared Laboratory Information System.
-After the change-over we have experienced delays in finalising some results and appreciate your patience while we work to resolve system issues and return to business as usual.

Following the recent changeover of our new pathology system, Monash Health Pathology has moved to PathNet, a new shared Laboratory Information System.

The move to PathNet is part of a statewide public pathology reform that will align pathology services across Monash Health, Bayside Health and Western Health through one shared system.

After the change-over we have experienced delays in finalising some results and appreciate your patience while we work to resolve system issues and are returning to business as usual.

How this will impact you

We expect minimal impact on GPs. However, you may notice:

  • some delays to routine results
  • changes in how pathology results are displayed (this will apply to any pathology results from Monash Health, Bayside Health Regional, South Gippsland Hospital and Yarram District Health Service)

The clinical content of results will not change, and pathology results will continue to be delivered electronically via HealthLink.

What you need to do

You do not need to do anything other than make your team aware of this update and changes.

However, practices not registered with HealthLink are strongly encouraged to register, as HealthLink is required to ensure ongoing, uninterrupted electronic delivery of pathology results.

To register with HealthLink, please call them on 1800 125 036 or visit the HealthLink website.

Once you receive a HealthLink practice identifier (EDI code), please email the following details to PathologyHL@monashhealth.org so we can set up electronic report delivery:

• HealthLink EDI code
• Provider numbers at the practice
• Clinician type (general practitioners or specialists)
• Practice name and address
• Practice contact details (telephone and fax)
• After-hours emergency contact number or numbers
