From 30 June 2026, there will be a change to the Monash Health Hospital in the Home (HITH) iron infusion referral pathway.
From Tuesday, 30 June 2026, Hospital in the Home (HITH) will no longer accept direct GP referrals for iron infusions. This will allow us to focus capacity on our inpatient demand.
GPs wishing to refer patients for an iron infusion will instead need to refer to the relevant specialty unit at Monash Health for further investigation and management of iron deficiency. This can be done via Healthlink.
For patients currently with a pending referral, these will continue to be honoured until 30 June.
