Statewide Nursing and Midwifery Protected Industrial Action

Some of our nurses and midwives are taking part in statewide industrial action.

At Monash Health our nurses and midwives are deeply valued, and we respect their right to take protected industrial action.

We all share a commitment to the safety of our patients and continuity of care.

If you need to come into the Emergency Department we will always continue to prioritise patients with the most urgent healthcare needs. We appreciate your patience and understanding that wait times may be a little longer during this time.

What if I have an appointment?

If you have an outpatient’s clinic appointment or planned surgery, please come in as planned. We will contact you if there are any changes to your appointments or surgery.

Do you need emergency care?

There are other healthcare options for conditions that may need urgent care but not a visit to the emergency department.

If your situation is not a medical emergency, other treatment options can be considered.

The options include:

  • Priority Primary Care Centres – you can attend Priority Primary Care Centres in Glen Waverley, Narre Warren, Dandenong and the Monash Children’s Priority Care Centre. For details visit our emergency departments webpage for phone numbers or online bookings.
  • Victorian Virtual Emergency Department – The Victorian Virtual Emergency Department (VVED) allows you to speak with emergency doctors and nurse practitioners 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is a free, statewide service.
  • Nurse on Call – Nurse on Call is a Victorian phone service providing immediate, expert advice from a registered nurse 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call 1300 60 60 24 for immediate health advice.
  • General Practitioners
  • Pharmacies
