Showcasing Health and Wellbeing in Early Childhood

Monash Health’s Health Promotion Team recently joined Cancer Council Victoria for a photo shoot as part of the Achievement Program’s brand refresh—and what better way to showcase success than through the inspiring journey of Story House Early Learning (SHEL).

As a proud Achievement Program member, Shweta Rajan (centre director) from SHEL has been working closely with Catherine Delaney, Health Promotion Officer at Monash Health, to embed health and wellbeing practices across their entire service. This whole-of-service approach ensures that children, families, and educators experience a happy, inclusive, and health-focused learning environment.

SHEL’s commitment to continuous improvement is evident. Just last year, they were awarded for meeting health eating and oral health benchmarks, and they’ve continued to raise the bar. One recent initiative was the installation of a new wooden climbing fort in the outdoor play space, designed to encourage children to be more physically active and develop gross motor skills through play.

Their dedication made them the ideal candidate for the photo shoot, providing a real-life example of how services can embed health and wellbeing measures into everyday practice. For the children, it was a fun and exciting experience, while for the educators and families, it was a chance to celebrate the hard work happening behind the scenes to create a thriving, health-promoting environment.

At Monash Health, we’re proud to support services like SHEL on their Achievement Program journey. Together, we’re building healthier, happier communities—starting with our youngest learners.
