Congratulations to Dandenong Springvale Masters Athletics Club

Dandenong Springvale Masters Athletics Club recently completed three additional health areas in Healthy Sports Clubs. Over the last 18 months the club has worked on the Injury Prevention health area.

They implemented a total of 18 new healthy actions, including:

  • Offering warm-up and cool-down sessions
  • Starting a partnership with a local physio
  • Holding training sessions on how to stretch
  • Adopting an injury prevention policy.

Dandenong Springvale Masters Athletics Club first registered for Healthy Sports Clubs in 2019 and started working on the Healthy Food & Beverages area. The club continues to sustain its actions, holding its annual Healthy Eating Handicap Event in October. Winners were rewarded with a medal and a hamper of nutritious foods before connecting over a supper of salad sandwiches, sushi, and fruit.

After becoming a Gold Level Good Sports club, they recently received advanced recognition for Responsible Alcohol Consumption and Preventing Drug Harm.

The club is now working on its fourth health area, Mental Wellness. Within this area, it hopes to implement actions that will support club members’ mental health.

This case highlights the success of clubs that persevere through the years and continue championing and sustaining healthy behaviours. Congratulations to the Dandenong Springvale Masters Athletics Club
