Laima is a Clinical Trials Co-ordinator for Phase 2 and Phase 3 Trials in Oncology Research – predominately Lung Cancer Trials.
She trained at Prince Henry’s Hospital (class of 1983) and returned to tertiary study in 1992 to complete her Bachelor of Nursing. Her career in Oncology started in 1991 with her role of Associate Charge Nurse in the in-patient facility at Clayton before transferring to work as a Clinical Nurse Consultant in 1996 to the Chemotherapy Day Unit. It was in 1998 that Laima started working in Clinical Trials in Oncology Research.
Laima has developed an interest in Lung Cancer which started with her working background in respiratory nursing back at Prince Henry’s Hospital. She completed the Nursing People with Lung Cancer Module at Latrobe University in 2008 and hopes to complete further studies in mesothelioma later in the year. Quality improvement continues to be an area of keen interest for Laima and she also hopes to develop an educative role in oncology research in the short to medium term.
