About us

Monash Ageing Research Centre (MONARC) is based at the Kingston Centre, a stand-alone sub-acute facility based in Heatherton (Victoria) which provides Geriatric Evaluation and Management, Aged Persons Mental Health, and Rehabilitation. MONARC is part of the School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health.

MONARC is a group of clinicians leading research to improve the health and quality of life for older people.

MONARC aims to improve the quality of care and address gaps in health service delivery to support healthy ageing and people with health conditions associated with ageing.

Priority topics include movement disorders – Movement Disorders Program | Monash Health (led by Dr Nirosen Vijiaratnam and Dr Anna Murphy), dementia, delirium, nutrition and optimising medication management.

Lions John Cockayne Memorial Fellowship Trust Fund

The Lions John Cockayne Memorial Fellowship Trust Fund was established in 1996 with donations from the Oakleigh Lions Club Elderly Peoples Home Inc. and Monash Health.

The LJCMFTF supports clinician-driven research to improve the care of older people, along with relevant conference travel.
