The newly established Endoscopy Clinic at Monash Health is a weekly outpatient clinic that provides a consultative service for all endoscopy referrals and follow-up for a range of endoscopy-related conditions. Held on a Thursday afternoon in the Specialty Medicine Building at Monash Medical Centre, it is staffed by interventional endoscopists (gastroenterologists), an endoscopy fellow (from 2021), gastroenterology registrars, endoscopy liasion nurses and a one administrative officer. The Clinic reviews referrals both from within the health service and from external sources, including GPs and other hospitals. Common referrals include positive faecal occult blood tests, pancreatitis, polyp surveillance and iron deficiency anaemia. We also review cases requiring interventional endoscopy including ERCP, cholangioscopy, EUS, luminal stenting, POEM and advanced tissue resection eg. ESD. The clinic is bulk-billed as per Medicare guidelines.
