Monash Health Research Support Services is the central human research administration office for all human research projects conducted at Monash Health and its Monash Health Translation Precinct Partners. Research Support Services is responsible for the review, approval, monitoring and governance of Monash Health Human Ethics and Research. Research Support Services currently monitors around 675 new and 1400 ongoing Human Research projects each year.
The Monash Health Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) and a Human Research Ethics Low Risk Review Panel reviews proposals involving Monash Health patients, staff and resources. In addition, the Monash Health HREC also offer a HREC Review Only service for researchers external to Monash Health. The HREC and Low Risk Review Panel function in accordance with the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research.
Monash Health is accredited under the National Mutual Acceptance Process for the review of clinical trials and is certified under the NHMRC Harmonisation of Multi-Site Ethical Review (HoMER).
