Aged care facilities

What you need to know when visiting Monash Health aged care facilities.

Visiting our Aged Care facilities

Visitors are welcome at our aged care facilities, provided they follow our entry requirements and receive a negative COVID-19 test result through either:

  • a rapid antigen test on the day of the visit, or
  • a PCR test within 24 hours prior to the visit.

If visitors are planning to attend one of our aged care facilities in a group of more than 5 people, they are requested to speak with the local care team before visiting to assist with suitable arrangements.

Prospective residents may visit with accompanying support people, but groups of more than 4 people must be arranged beforehand with the local care team.

Entry requirements

All visitors and carers are required to wear a face mask.

You will not be able to enter if you:

  • are unwell.
  • are awaiting a COVID-19 test result.
  • have spent more than four hours with someone who has COVID-19 in the past 7 days (unless all contact was while wearing Personal Protective Equipment).
  • test positive with COVID-19: you are unable to visit until day 7 and are asymptomatic.

Exceptions to entry requirements will only be granted in the following circumstances and must be arranged with the local care team:

  • End of life
  • Essential carers
